I love solving problems. That’s the best part of my job. Lucky for me, we’re in a thought-provoking industry – one that’s become even more challenging with the growth of high-dollar claims. As a reinsurer, paying those claims is the most important thing we do. The challenge lies in creating the right solution for each client, appropriately pricing business to ensure obligations can be fulfilled and finding ways to help contain claim costs for everyone involved.

Yes, I went to Princeton for engineering. People often call attention to that if they’ve read my bio. It was – and is – a great spot for education, and the classes were tough. But a lot of places in life are, and the health care industry is no different. Right now, we’re in the advanced class.

I consider myself to be an approachable guy. I certainly hope people sense that about me. I’m pretty open with my thoughts and experiences, and I think it helps to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas and making recommendations. When we welcome personal transparency into a business setting, those there are likely to get on the same page and feel more compelled to contribute to the greater good.

When you consider entering a relationship, commonalities are the first thing you seek. How are you alike? How will you work together?
