PITTSBURGH – The Board of Directors of HM Insurance Group approved the appointment of Matt Rhenish as the company’s new president and chief operating officer effective immediately. Rhenish succeeds Michael W. Sullivan, who was promoted to chief executive officer of HM and United Concordia Dental and co-CEO of HVHC, Inc., all diversified businesses of Highmark Inc.
These changes in leadership took place following the promotion of David Holmberg, former chairman and chief executive officer of HM, United Concordia Dental and HVHC, Inc., to the role of president and chief executive officer of Highmark Health.
“As Highmark Health restructures to ensure a focus on customers and achieving results in a new health care marketplace, I am confident that Matt Rhenish will bring his keen understanding of market dynamics and strong leadership abilities to this role,” Sullivan said.
Rhenish has been with HM since 2012 in the role of senior vice president, strategy and marketing. He came to HM from McKinsey & Company where he was an associate principal. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School after earning a BSBA in finance from The Ohio State University.
“I look forward to working with Mike Sullivan and the entire HM team to deliver smarter solutions, better performance and unparalleled support to our partners, producers and clients across the country,” Rhenish said. “HM has a lot to offer in this new health care environment, and I am committed to continuing our tradition of helping clients to manage their health risks with confidence.”
